As usual, the Biennale of Architecture of Venice brings with it a number of events that would deserve much more attention by media and visitors. This is the case of the exhibition « Carlo Scarpa. Venini 1932-1947 ».
'The exhibition brings together more than 300 pieces from private collections and museums around the world, some of which displayed for the first time, designed by the famous architect Carlo Scarpa while he was working like art director of the historical Venini Glass Factory. Scarpa made use of unique and experimental methods of design. He broke conventions practiced for hundreds of years in Murano glassmaking. Specifically, the designer used cristallo and lattimo glass in conjunction with techniques like murrino and filigrana in his pieces. Despite the fact that Scarpa never blew his own glass, his ingenuity in design and modern style of glassmaking has produced some of the most original and innovative examples of handmade glass in Venetian history
A visit to this exhibition will also gives you a great opportunity to see the magnificent Benedictine monastery of San Giorgio and the Labyrinth of Borges housed behind the cloister of Palladio.
Hotel Flora is always in the middle of the events.
